Donna Rae Hyatt Obituary

Donna Rae Hyatt, 90, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Vicar Damon Hopkins, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Donna Rae’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Goslar Chapel in Onawa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Donna Rae was born June 15, 1935 in Delmont, South Dakota, the daughter of Raymond and Amalia “Molly” (Steinke) Goehring. Donna Rae graduated from Onawa High School with the class of 1953.

Donna Rae Goehring and Daniel W. Hyatt were united into marriage June 27, 1954 in Onawa. To this union five children were born, Debra, Danelle, Dee Ann, Darla, and Dan. Daniel passed away July 14, 2002.

Donna Rae worked for twelve years as a clerk with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Her love for bookkeeping was evident throughout her career, and she dedicated over forty years to the local John Deere dealership.

Donna Rae shared her love of music as a solo vocalist and as a member of several singing groups, including the church choir, Sweet Adelines, and the Riverside Harmony Chorus. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, where her faith and music were an important part of her life.

Donna Rae spent many years bowling as a member of the Iowa Women Bowling Association and participated in the Iowa Games. She enjoyed traveling and took memorable trips to Europe and Hawaii, as well as a road trip to Alaska. Above all, Donna Rae cherished time with her family and always encouraged family harmony.

Survivors include her children, Debra Lopez Bryan of Tucson, Arizona, Danelle Riley of Onawa, Iowa, Dee Ann (Wes Davis) Hyatt of Fayette, Alabama, Darla (Gordon) Hinkel of Modale, Iowa, and Dan L. (Marilyn) Hyatt of Ashley, Michigan; grandchildren, Krystle Lopez, Stefanie Lopez, and Kristofer Lopez all of Tucson, Arizona, Douglas Riley of Jacksonville, Florida, Eric (Karen) Riley of Dunlap, Iowa, Elias Riley of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Seth (Megan) Riley of Bellevue, Nebraska, Brent (Jenna) Hinkel of Clarkesville, Georgia, Candace (Tyson) Kurth of Logan, Iowa, and Jeremy (Heather) Hinkel of Le Mars, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Fabian Lopez, Cecilia Lopez, Spencer (Christine) Riley, Samson Riley, Logan Riley, Emily Bradish, Anna Bradish, Jasmine Riley, Vicar Damon Hopkins, Rhiannon (Alejandro) Perez-Stark, Ashton (Kaylynn Warren) Collins, Cierra Riley, Gage (fiancée Brenna Prater) Wente, Ana Rodgers, Willow Riley, Xander Riley, Madison (Tyler) Arrasmith, Ashton Riley, Balian Riley, Kellan Riley, Gabe Hinkel, Makenzie Hinkel, Noah Hinkel, Lilly Kurth, Macie Kurth, Tenly Kurth, Kassidy (Kyle) Kommes, and Kameron (Piper) Hinkel; numerous great-great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel W. Hyatt; parents, Raymond and Amalia “Molly” (Steinke) Goehring; parents-in-law, Alvin “Boss” and Edna Mae (Thompson) Hyatt; sons-in-law, David George Bryan and Roy Lynn Riley; paternal grandparents, Michael and Katherine (Serr) Goehring; maternal grandparents, William and Elizabeth (Knecht) Steinke; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jules Vaughn and Louise Goehring, Alvin “Punk” and Edie Hyatt, and Reta Mae Hyatt Warren.
